It is said that the eyes are the window to the soul. This alligator's steady, unblinking eye was alluring and I found myself wondering what thoughts were lurking inside the mind of this predator. What could he be thinking - can you tell?
This wild American Alligator was resting near a raised walkway in Everglades National Park in Florida, USA. The popular and unique national park has many resident alligators but this one was, by far, the closest I saw.
Typical of the species, there was no discernible movement - not even a single blink. I cannot imagine being so calm, so cool only a few feet away from all the noisy tourists, but then, I don't have those teeth either.
