Description
Bloodless, brainless multi-armed creatures roam the intertidal zone and tide pools preying on abundant mollusks.
Prying open the bivalve, it everts it's stomach out through it's mouth and into the shell of it's victim - digesting the mussel in it's own home.
If these creatures can successfully avoid sea otters and gulls, they will live up to 20 years consuming about 80 mussels each year. Pisaster ochraceous aka Ochre Sea Stars savagery allow other sea creatures to flourish by reducing mussel populations.
